FRANKFURT ( Dow Jones) – The economic recovery in Germany is reflected in a significant increase in energy consumption. In the first half , sales of natural gas and electricity was more than 8% over last year’s levels , as the Association of Energy and Water Management ( BDEW ) said on Monday . (Photo : Anders)
The association estimated the increase in electricity sales from January to June to 4.6 %. With a total of 274 billion kilowatt hours ( kWh) is the pre-crisis but not yet reached , it said in the statement . Natural gas consumption has increased to even consider that 14% to 532 billion kWh.
According BDEW is the main reason for the higher demand, the increase in industrial production, which constitutes for electricity and gas respectively 40 % and 45 % of total consumption. Gas consumption was also been driven by the cold winter.
